Hong S. Lin is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery and is based in the Firm’s Silicon Valley office. He focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation.
Hong represents clients in a variety of high technology industries, including semiconductor, telecommunications, and software. He has represented clients in federal district courts and before the United States International Trade Commission. Hong was selected for inclusion on the Rising Star list in the 2010 edition of the Northern California Super Lawyers magazine.
While attending law school, Hong worked as a patent agent at a prominent law firm in New York where he drafted and prosecuted patent applications in the U.S. and abroad. Hong’s litigation practice is enhanced by his strong technical background; he has industry experience designing and testing circuits and developing software. As an undergraduate at Cornell, he performed research on novel gallium nitride semiconductor devices.
Hong earned his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University where he was a Cornell Presidential Research Scholar and John McMullen Dean Scholar, and his J.D. degree from Fordham University. He is a member of the State Bar of California and a registered patent attorney admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. Hong is conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
