J. Robert McMenamin is a retired capital partner of McDermott, Will & Emery LLP. He is currently senior counsel in the Firm’s Chicago office. Robert has over 38 years’ experience in banking, finance, commercial and corporate law. He was formerly co-chair of the Firm’s Finance group. His experience includes structured finance, syndicated lending, securitization, leveraged acquisition financing, working capital financing, asset-based lending, project financing, subordinated debt and mezzanine financing, ESOP lending, credit enhancement, workouts and restructurings, both in the private and public markets.
Robert received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Notre Dame in 1968 and graduated from Notre Dame Law School in 1971. He clerked in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit (1971-72) and thereafter practiced law at Mayer, Brown & Platt (now Mayer Brown) until 1989 when he joined McDermott, Will & Emery.
Robert is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago. He is a past President of the Lawyers Club of Chicago and a past chairman of the Advisory Board of Holy Trinity High School. He is also a past member of the Advisory Board of Saint Scholastica Academy.
