Karol Lyn Newman is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Washington, D.C., office.
Karol Lyn has worked in the energy area for over 30 years, counseling and advising natural gas producers, marketers, local distribution companies and end-users. She advises on regulatory issues associated with asset acquisitions, infrastructure development, and the negotiation of commercial agreements related to the purchase, sale, and transportation of natural gas. She regularly represents clients in litigated and ADR proceedings before the FERC. Karol Lyn is also a seasoned appellate lawyer, having argued numerous cases in the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
Karol Lyn also provides regulatory advice and counsel on oil pipeline rate and tariff issues and represents clients in FERC proceedings concerning regulated oil pipelines. She also assists clients on energy-related matters before the Department of the Interior, the Department of Energy, the Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Congress.

More recently, Karol Lyn has assisted clients in the negotiation of commercial agreements related to coal gasification, liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas storage and natural gas transportation projects.
