Kristen E. Hazel is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office. Kristen focuses her practice on U.S. and international aspects of federal tax matters including international acquisitions and joint ventures, captive insurance companies, and structuring and implementing partnership and limited liability company transactions.
Kristen is a member of the bar of the State of Illinois. She is a member of the American Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association. She has served on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Committee on Legal Education, Admission and Competence. In addition, Kristen chaired the Chicago Bar Association Federal Tax Committee’s International Tax Subcommittee.
Kristen has authored articles on various topics including captive insurance companies, international partnership transactions, working with limited liability companies, working with the intangibles amortization rules and partnership exit strategies. She served a two-year clerkship with Justice Daniel J. McNamara of the Illinois Appellate Court.
