Bryan M. Webster is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office. He focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation.
Bryan has represented companies and individuals in state and federal courts throughout the United States regarding a wide variety of disputes, including matters involving breach of contract, negligence, RICO violations, patent infringement, securities fraud, product liability and insurance coverage. His recent work on behalf of his clients includes the following representative matters:
- Representing a joint group of managed care insurers in high-profile multimillion dollar litigation with health care providers regarding their reimbursement rates and practices
- Second-chaired a bench trial in which a complete defense verdict was obtained on behalf of one of the world’s largest manufacturers of clothing apparel regarding its alleged infringement of patents involving wrinkle-free shirts
- First-chaired a jury trial on behalf of a local utility company regarding damages caused by a negligent contractor in which a complete verdict was obtained on behalf of the client
- Obtained a preliminary injunction against a manufacturer regarding a breach of an exclusive distribution agreement involving specialty hardware tools
- Counseled a prestigious New York hospital regarding its multimillion dollar insurance policies, including drafting its captive insurance policies and formulating strategies to limit its liability and enhance coverage
Bryan also dedicates a significant portion of his time to pro bono efforts. Some of his pro bono achievements include:
- Obtaining the title to a home that was fraudulently stolen from a retired postal worker
- Serving as a court-appointed guardian ad litem for two children
- Serving as a debate coach for a local high school that is involved in the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues
While at the University of Missouri, Bryan was named a Truman Scholar Finalist and was elected student body vice president. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Trial Bar).
