Paul M. Zagar, M.D., is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s New York office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department, Paul focuses his practice on litigation and prosecution in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, chemical and medical device areas.
Paul’s patent prosecution experience includes U.S. and foreign prosecution, reissues, reexaminations, infringement and validity opinions, and due diligence in areas such as immunology, genetics, virology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices and diagnostic systems. His litigation experience includes district court pharmaceutical cases arising under the Hatch-Waxman Act and an infringement dispute involving claims directed to lentiviral vectors.
Prior to joining the practice of law, Paul was a board-certified general surgeon for nearly 5 years. He practiced general and vascular surgery in Florida at the West Palm Beach Veterans Affairs Medical Center and in Virginia at the Riverside Tappahannock Hospital. Paul is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Paul is admitted to practice in New York and is a registered patent attorney with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
