James C. Garahan is counsel in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Silicon Valley office.
He focuses his practice on cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic partnering arrangements for U.S. and foreign based multinationals, as well as numerous “Silicon Valley” high technology companies. He also advises regarding domestic and international partnership and corporate tax matters generally.
Jim has been named one of the top tax advisors in the western U.S. in International Tax Review surveys. He also has been included in the Europe Money Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Advisors. Jim is a frequent lecturer for professional and industry groups including, TEI, ATLAS, CITE and PLI and has taught partnership and other taxation courses in the graduate tax programs of Golden Gate University and San Jose State University.
