Lynn M. Roland is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s New York office. She concentrates her practice in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, finance and general corporate law, though is versed in securities and private equity matters as well.
Lynn has extensive experience representing public and private companies in connection with mergers, stock and asset acquisitions, joint ventures and financing transactions. Additionally, she has advised issuers and investment companies in connection with public and private securities offerings and private equity investments. Lynn has worked with start-ups and not-for-profit entities with respect to formation and initial financing efforts, and continues to advise both for-profit and not-for-profit companies as "outside general counsel" on varied matters. Her practice focuses on the hospitality, construction and energy industries, though Lynn has worked on matters in a variety of service industries, including wholesale lumber, garment, bioscience and health care. She is also a member of the Firm’s Pro Bono Committee, which coordinates the pro bono program in the New York office.
Lynn has been with McDermott since starting her legal career. During law school, Lynn was a judicial extern for Judge Eugene Nickerson of the Eastern District of New York. She was also a legal intern for The Independent Broadcasting Authority in Johannesburg, South Africa; The Metropolitan Museum of Art, counsel’s office in New York; and The Author’s Guild, Inc. in New York.
Lynn has co-authored "Plans of Arrangement: An Innovative Structure for United States-Canadian Business Combinations," which appeared in the September 1998 The M&A Lawyer, reprinted in the December 1998 Bowne Digest. In addition, she was a regular contributor to the monthly bulletin for the CPR Institute of Dispute Resolution in 1995 and 1996 and the Guild Bulletin for The Author's Guild, Inc. in 1994.
