David Dalgarno is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP, based in its London office.  His practice focuses on employment, labour and discrimination law particularly concerned with the human relations issues that arise during business change.  He has advised on the integration of investment banks, the establishment of joint venture businesses, inward investment, and reorganisation/downsizing exercises.  He also advises on employee benefit and share scheme issues.   Clients include investment banks, financial services businesses, manufacturing companies, airlines and major retailers.

David is a frequent advocate in the Employment Tribunals and he regularly speaks and writes on employment law issues.  He also acts for senior executives.  He was the author of the CCH Employment Contract Manual and a founding member of the European Labour Lawyers Forum.

After graduating from Warwick University with an honours degree in law, David was called to the Bar as a member of the Inner Temple in 1978.  In the period from 1979 to 1987, he was an in-house lawyer with Courtaulds plc which had manufacturing interests across a very wide range of activity including fibres, chemicals, textiles, packaging and composites.  As well as dealing with individual employment issues, David gained practical experience in labour relations and collective labour issues in unionised environments.

David is recognised as a leader in his field in Chambers UK 2010 ('recognised for "his huge experience of industrial action"'), Legal 500 and Legal Experts.
