His practice covers the entire spectrum of national and international labour and employment law. His special focus is on restructuring, close-downs, transactions and negotiations with works councils. Additionally, he also advises on service agreements with board members, managing directors and senior executives as well as on operational pensions and outsourcing.
In addition, Paul advises in the area of data privacy law and compliance. He has significant experience regarding all issues of data privacy at the workplace including the implementation of works agreements, data privacy policies and respective inter-company agreements. Moreover, he advises on implementation and execution of clinical trials and data privacy violations. A further important role for his practice takes the liability of board members and managing directors as well as the compliance with the legal framework on company and group level.
Paul studied at the Universities of Munich and Würzburg where he received his Dr. jur. in 2001. He obtained an LL.M. (labour law) degree from London School of Economics and Political Science in 2002. He is acknowledged as “Specialised Lawyer in Labour Law” (Fachanwalt für Arbeitsrecht) by the German Bar Association. Paul has published numerous articles in the field of labour and employment and is lecturer for employment law i.a. regarding the education of young lawyers. Prior to joining McDermott, he worked in the
Paul is a member of the Employment Law Group of the German Lawyers’ Association, the German Labour Court Association as well as the German-South African Lawyers’ Association. He speaks German, English and French.
