Dr. Wolfgang Freiherr Raitz von Frentz is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater LLP, based in its Munich office. His practice is focused on commercial litigation and transactions. Furthermore, Wolfgang advises on compliance.
As a member of the German telecom, media and technology (TMT) practice group, Wolfgang advises in particular media and technology businesses as well as their clients with respect to complex projects, including agreements on outsourcing, research, development, licensing, film financing, broadcasting and distribution as well as trademark, patent and know-how licensing agreements. Furthermore, Wolfgang advises in the area of gaming, gambling, sweepstakes and all IP relevant aspects of insolvency/bankruptcy law. For many years Wolfgang has represented clients in numerous litigations, in particular in the aforementioned areas.
Wolfgang has extensive experience in Mergers & Acquisitions in the TMT sector.
Wolfgang also advises on compliance. He coordinates and supervises in-house investigations by clients and develops and implements compliance programs with clients, in particular in the areas of anti-corruption, fraud and data protection.
Wolfgang is recommended in JUVE Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien 2010/2011 (leading directory of German commercial law firms) in the areas of media, film, broadcasting and entertainment and acknowledged as a leading individual in Chambers Europe 2011 in media. European Legal 500 recommends Wolfgang in its 2011 edition in the area IT/outsourcing and for media and entertainment. Furthermore he is recommended in European Legal Experts 2011 for IT and Telecoms and in Best Lawyers 2010 for Media. In 2005 the German TMT practice group won the JUVE Award “best law firm of the year for media”.
Wolfgang is the author of numerous publications, in particular in the areas media, mergers and acquisitions and privacy law. He studied at the Universities of Regensburg and Aberdeen (Scotland), received his Dr. jur. at the University of Regensburg and his LL.M. at the University of Cape Town (South Africa). Wolfgang is admitted to the German bar. Prior to joining the firm in 2004, Wolfgang practiced for six years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Cologne and London.
