Jennifer Filippazzo is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s New York office. She focuses her practice on civil litigation with an emphasis on the defense and trial of complex product liability, negligence and mass tort litigation.
Jennifer is regional coordinator on a national coordinating counsel team representing a major corporate client in their mass tort litigation. She oversees and manages the docket of claims filed in the Northeast region of the United States, handling all aspects of the litigation including discovery, settlement negotiations and trial preparation and strategy. Jennifer also regularly handles matters and trials in New York and Pennsylvania, many of these claims involve wrongful death cases with significant medical and scientific issues. She has developed an area of specialty in the defense of Fortune 500 companies and other corporate entities involved in asbestos litigation.
With a B.A. in biology and a M.P.H. in public health, Jennifer brings a unique base of knowledge, experience and perspective to McDermott and the practice of mass tort litigation and product liability. This core education along with previous corporate experience provides a solid foundation for Jennifer to serve as a resource to clients and local counsel in both the pre-trial preparation and trial of issues pertaining to the areas of epidemiology, pulmonology, pathology and occupational health.
Jennifer is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York, and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. She is a member of the Defense Research Institute where she serves on the Toxic Tort & Environmental Law Committee. Jennifer was also appointed to serve as a Vice-Chair Vice of the Products General Liability and Consumer Law Committee for 2011-2012. She is also a member of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section and the National Association of Women Lawyers.
