Peter M. Schutzel is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office. Peter focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, internal investigations and compliance counseling.
Peter has represented companies and individuals in state and federal courts throughout the United States regarding a wide variety of matters, including contract disputes, business torts, product liability cases, class actions and securities fraud cases. Peter also has extensive experience representing clients in the health care, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, and defense contracting industries in civil litigation and internal investigations related to allegations of fraud and false billing under the False Claims Act and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Peter’s practice also includes conducting large scale internal investigations for corporations and health care organizations across the country. Peter has reported findings and provided compliance counseling to corporate leadership and Audit Committees of prominent companies.
Peter is admitted to practice in the state of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of Illinois and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association.
