Dr. Norbert Schulte is the partner in charge of the Düsseldorf office of McDermott Will & Emery Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater LLP. Norbert is a member of the Corporate Department and Real Estate Group of McDermott.
Norbert has vast experience in complex cross-border mergers and acquisitions as well as international real estate transactions and has represented public and private companies (multinationals, family conglomerates as well as medium-sized businesses) in numerous transactions. Moreover, Norbert represented large US and European real estate investment funds, investment banks and other financial institutions in a number of real estate transactions across Germany and Europe, especially regarding hotels and office buildings.
His industry experience covers, among others, real estate, automotive, defense, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, mining and food.
Norbert has published numerous articles in the field of corporate and corporate real estate law. He is the co-author of a standard treatise on corporate and tax law aspects of joint venture companies (Joint Venture-Gesellschaften). He is also a co-author of one of the leading German handbooks on Corporate Law (Münchener Handbuch des Gesellschaftsrechts).
Prior to joining McDermott, Norbert worked for seven years in the corporate department in a leading international law firm.
Norbert attended the Universities of Freiburg and Münster and earned his M.A.L.D. from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Medford/Massachusetts). He was a scholar of the German National Merit Foundation (Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes).
Norbert is admitted to the German bar and is a member of the German-American Lawyers Association. He is fluent in German, English and Polish and speaks Russian and French.
