Dr. Thomas Hauss is a partner in the Düsseldorf office of McDermott Will & Emery LLP. He heads the Düsseldorf office’s Commercial Agreements and Dispute Resolution departments and is a member of the Firm’s Complex Civil Litigation and International Arbitration Groups.

Thomas has over 15 years’ experience advising companies and entrepreneurs from industry and the service sector on the drafting, negotiation, implementation and enforcement of contracts.  His practice has a particular focus on the food, pharmaceutical, automobile, aircraft supply and air transport industries, as well as on the advertising and office centre sectors. Companies in these sectors benefit from Thomas’ experience representing clients in numerous disputes before state and arbitral courts, as well as advising on compliance topics.

Another major focus of Thomas’ practice is the consultation process in national and international commercial law disputes, representing clients in out-of-court dispute resolution as well as before the courts. Thomas acts regularly as arbitrator and represents parties in arbitration or mediation processes, both in Germany and abroad.

Thomas studied at the Universities of Cologne and Bonn and received a Doctorate from the University of Cologne from Prof. Dr. Hanau. He is a licensed attorney in Germany in all district and appellate courts. He is member of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS), the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) and the Austrian Arbitration Association (ArbAut). He speaks German and English.
