Thomas H. Donohoe is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Chicago office. He focuses his practice on state and local law.
Tom has broad experience in assisting businesses in tax planning and in resolving controversies with state and local tax authorities. He works with companies involved in telecommunications, automotive manufacturing, leasing, transportation, pharmaceuticals, electronics, computer hardware and software, printing, food retailing, banking, heavy manufacturing, health care, agriculture, advertising and environmental services.
He has worked closely with business organizations and served as chair of the Illinois State Chamber of Commerce's Tax Committee. He is a former chair of the Chicago Bar Association's State and Local Tax Committee and a member of the American, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Robert Morris College, a Director of the Taxpayers' Federation of Illinois and The Civic Federation.Tom has written extensively, with articles appearing in State Tax Notes, The State and Local Tax Lawyer, State Tax Review, and The Illinois Manufacturer . He is a frequent speaker before taxpayer and taxing authority groups.
While attending the University of Wisconsin, Tom was a member of the Wisconsin Law Review.
