Ellie Hourizadeh is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Los Angeles office.  She focuses her practice on all areas of litigation, including trademark, trade dress, and copyright infringement. 

Ellie specializes in protection and enforcement of clients’ intellectual property rights including, worldwide registration and enforcement, as well as litigation and product seizure. Ellie also advises clients with respect to commercial exploitation of their intellectual property rights, including drafting and negotiating license, distribution, joint venture, co-branding and commercial exploitation agreements for clients in a wide range of industries.

Ellie also routinely advises companies on privacy and data security laws.  Ellie assists clients in preparing comprehensive privacy and data security programs and policies for multifaceted businesses and advises clients on collection, use, retention and disposal of personal identifiable information.  In the event of a breach, Ellie advises clients on how to respond and remediate breach of private information.

Ellie’s representation experience includes:

  • Motion picture studios in copyright infringement claims;
  • The largest Spanish language television and radio broadcaster in connection with various intellectual property, breach of contract, employment and privacy issues; and
  • Various apparel manufacturers and distributors in connection with trademark, trade secret, copyright and unfair competition claims.

Ellie has successfully litigated, mediated and arbitrated both small and large scale disputes in state and federal courts nationwide.  Ellie is admitted to practice law in all California state and federal courts and the Western District of Michigan.
