Jennifer Kalnins Temple is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Orange County office. Jennifer focuses her practice on complex litigation matters and multi-party mass tort cases with both bench and jury trial experience.
Jennifer has extensive experience defending corporations in complex commercial, toxic tort and products liability litigation matters both before and at trial. She represents a multinational petroleum company in a mass tort, product liability multidistrict litigation in the Southern District of New York. She has also managed the New York City asbestos litigation defense on behalf of a major corporate client. In California, Jennifer has also represented a Fortune 500 company in a toxic tort action involving alleged releases of toxic substances. Jennifer is also presently litigating a patent infringement case in the Eastern District of Texas.
While attending law school, Jennifer completed the Environmental Studies Collaborative Program for graduate students through U of T’s Centre for Environment. She was awarded the Laskin Prize in Constitutional Law from the University of Toronto in 2000.
Recent Accomplishments:
Jennifer represented the firm’s pro bono client Surfrider Foundation at a bench trial in the Superior Court of California, San Diego County. She argued that a municipal ordinance restricting beach access was unconstitutional and there was no evidence to support the municipality’s nuisance declaration that was passed in support of the ordinance. The Court declared the ordinance void.
Jennifer co-authored the article titled “Cellphone Waves May Bring A Litigation Wave” published by Forbes.com on June 20, 2011.
Jennifer is admitted to practice in the states of California and New York, including the Central District Court of California and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Jennifer is also admitted to practice in the Eastern District of Texas.
