Natalie Nathanson is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office.  Natalie focuses her practice primarily on designing, amending and administering pension plans, profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans, cafeteria plans, welfare benefit plans and nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements.  She counsels privately and publicly-held corporations and tax-exempt entities regarding fiduciary issues under ERISA, employee benefits issues involved in corporate transactions, and executive compensation matters.  Natalie also has experience counseling plan fiduciaries with respect to the claims and appeals procedures under ERISA.

Natalie has dealt with the Internal Revenue Service under various circumstances, including Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS) filings, Audit CAP negotiations and applications for tax-qualification determination letters. She has also represented clients in negotiations with the Department of Labor in connection with Voluntary Fiduciary Correction Program filings.

Natalie is a frequent writer and speaker and was formerly contributing editor of The Guide to Assigning & Loaning Benefit Plan Money.

Natalie is a member of the Firm’s Pro Bono & Community Service Committee, and is a member of the Advisory Board of Ladder Up.  She received the 2007 McDermott Will & Emery award for Outstanding Achievement and Commitment to Pro Bono and Service to the Community.  Natalie is also a member of the Firm’s Associate Development Committee.

Natalie is a Certified Public Accountant.  She is admitted to practice before the Illinois Bar.
