Kevin Spencer is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Washington, D.C., office. He focuses his practice on tax controversy and litigation issues.
Prior to joining McDermott, Kevin worked with an international law firm, where his practice focused on federal tax law issues relating to planning and controversy matters. He also worked on a series of tax shelter cases brought by investors against an investment advisor in numerous state and federal courts throughout the United States. From 2002 to 2004, Kevin clerked for the Honorable Robert P. Ruwe of the U.S. Tax Court. Before becoming a tax lawyer, Kevin practiced commercial litigation with a small, boutique law firm in Miami.
Kevin is a member of the Tax Section of the American Bar Association, the Tax Section of the D.C. Bar and the J. Edgar Murdock Inn of Court. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Florida and before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.
Kevin is conversational in both French and Spanish.
