Daniel A. Curto is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Boston office.  As a member of the Trial Department, he represents clients in business litigation and civil and criminal regulatory matters.  Daniel’s civil experience includes numerous class actions.  He also represents clients in securities, commodities and healthcare matters.  He has represented clients in investigations by the Department of Justice, state attorney generals, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Daniel is a member of McDermott’s Electronic Data Management, Privacy & Discovery Practice Group.  He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional who routinely advises businesses on data security issues.  Daniel’s works with Electronic Data Management and Privacy includes assisting clients to preserve, protect and recover electronic data.  He has substantial experience working with clients to address potential and actual data security breaches and vulnerabilities.  Daniel regularly speaks on electronic data issues at conferences and seminars.

Daniel is active in numerous public and pro bono matters.    He serves as the co-chair of the Boston Office’s pro bono program.  In 2009, the Massachusetts Bar Association gave this program its annual Access to Justice Award.  Daniel is also the co-chair of the Boston Bar Association’s Class Action Committee and previously served as the BBA’s public policy chair. 

Daniel was named a 2009 Massachusetts Super Lawyer - Rising Star in Business Litigation as chosen by his peers and through independent research performed by Law & Politics.   Approximately 2.5 percent of the best up-and-coming attorneys in Massachusetts are named to the Rising Stars list.  This is the fourth year that Daniel has been selected for this recognition, which is published in Boston magazine.
