Dr. Vincent Schröder is partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater LLP, based in its Munich office. He is a member of the German telecom, media and technology (TMT) practice group.
His practice focuses on IT law, comprising, in particular, the drafting, revision and negotiating of software development, licensing and distribution agreements pertaining to proprietary as well as open source and copyleft software, hardware sales and leases, maintenance and support agreements, consulting agreements, web-hosting and e-commerce contracts, IT project agreements, copyright and patent issues, domain law and telecommunications law. In this context, his expertise also extends to the law of general terms and conditions, procurement law, matters of privacy and confidentiality, the enforcement of rights in litigation and the international legal framework of IT business.
Vincent studied law at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. There, he also received his Ph.D. (summa cum laude) with a thesis on international conflicts law focusing on the German-U.S. relationship. Vincent was awarded his LL.M. degree from Stanford University after participating in the local Law, Science & Technology Program focusing on U.S. copyright, patent and trademark law as well as the international aspects of Intellectual Property protection. In 2009, Vincent passed the New York state bar exam.
