Michelle Cai is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Silicon Valley office.  Michelle is a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology Department where her practice focuses on intellectual property litigation.

While in law school, Michelle served as annual review advisor and associate editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal and was a member of the Moot Court Board.  She was awarded the Prosser Prize and the Moot Court Advocacy Award.  She also published a case comment entitled "Madey v. Duke University: Shattering the Myth of Universities' Experimental Use Defense," 19 Berkeley Tech. L. J. 175 (2004). 

Prior to law school, Michelle was a postdoctoral fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York.  She also gained marketing experience working at a multinational pharmaceutical company and a telecommunications company. 

Michelle received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley.  She received her B.A. degree in chemistry, cum laude with high honors, from Smith College.

Michelle is admitted to practice in California and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
