Shon Lo is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Chicago office. She focuses her practice on patent and trademark litigation and prosecution, as well as domain name disputes.
Shon’s practice focuses on intellectual property litigation. Shon has represented generic companies in patent litigations brought under the Hatch-Waxman Act for products ranging from oral contraceptives to topical treatments for skin disorders to neuro-stimulants.
Shon’s practice also involves trademark counseling and patent prosecution for clients in other industries ranging from biotech to wireless communications technology, to household fixtures. She has conducted intellectual property due diligence reviews involving in-depth analyses of patent validity and infringement. Shon has also assisted the Corporate Practice in due diligence reviews of intellectual property agreements and assets involved in proposed transactions.
Prior to law school, Shon received her M.S. in neurobiology from the University of Chicago. During her graduate studies, she co-authored several scientific articles, including Recent advances in understanding NF-kappaB regulation and Failure to regulate TNF-induced NF-kappaB and cell death responses in A20-deficient mice, which was published in Science magazine. Shon earned her B.S. in biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her J.D. from the University of Chicago.
Shon provides pro bono legal services for local businesses involved in intellectual property disputes and has assisted not-for-profit companies in obtaining trademark registrations and protecting their intellectual property rights.
Shon is admitted to practice in Illinois and before the District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
