Tom Ryan is a 20 year veteran of the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP. He is a partner based in the Firm’s Los Angeles office where he is the partner-in-charge of the Southern California Trial practice. Tom’s practice is civil litigation with a focus on defending class actions and commercial healthcare disputes. Tom was recently named a Southern California Super Lawyer for 2012.

- Served as defense counsel in In re Epogen Off-Label Marketing, a class action against a major dialysis provider dismissed by the United States District Court in Los Angeles (discussed in the Big Suits Section of The American Lawyer following dismissal of claims against our client)
- Serves as defense counsel in Tri-City Healthcare District v. Pediatrix, et al., a class action filed in the Superior Court in San Diego County
- Serves as defense counsel in Keller v. Gaspari Nutrition Inc., a 17200 class action pending in the Superior Court in Los Angeles County
- Served as defense counsel in Mendiola v. Kroll, a class action dismissed by the Superior Court in Alameda County
- Serves as defense counsel in In re Quality Home Loans, Inc., a securities class action pending in the United States Bankruptcy Court in Los Angeles
- Serves as defense counsel in Buttonwood v. Sweeney, et al., a 10b-5 securities class action pending in the United States District Court in Los Angeles
- Serves as defense counsel in Harris v. First Regional Bancorp, an ERISA class action pending in the United States District Court in Los Angeles
- Serves as defense counsel in Wimbledon Financing Master Fund v. Molner, et al, a dispute involving hedge fund derivative claims pending in the United States District Court in Los Angeles
- Serves as defense counsel in Martin v. UHS, a qui tam false claims action pending in the Superior Court of Sacramento County
- Served as counsel to a major medical center threatened with loss of its Medicare provider status

- Tom currently serves on the Board of the Constitutional Rights Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan organization that fosters citizenship and civics in our nation’s schools.
