Michael L. Boykins is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office. He focuses his practice in the corporate finance area. He represents both corporate and individual lenders, investors and borrowers in connection with secured and unsecured credit facilities, asset–based lending, ESOP financings, acquisition financings, over-the-counter derivatives, insurance industry financings, senior subordinated debt, mezzanine and venture capital transactions. Michael also represents debtor committees and secured creditors in debt restructurings and workouts.
Michael’s practice also includes representing issuers and underwriters in debt and equity public offerings and other types of secured transactions, and the representation of insurance companies and other institutional investors in connection with the private placement of debt and related equity investments and exit strategies. Given his experience with the structure and issuance of convertible and nonconvertible debt and equity securities, and secured and unsecured financings, Michael advises clients on a wide range of U.S. and international equity derivatives transactions, including swaps and over-the-counter derivatives.

Michael is a member of the Illinois and Wisconsin bars, a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, a fellow in the American College of Investment Counsel, co-chair of McDermott’s Racial and Ethnic Diversity Committee, a member of the board of directors of LINK Unlimited, and a past member of the board of directors of the Chicago Committee on Minorities in Large Law Firms (serving as co-chair of its strategic planning and nominating committees).
