Andrew Watson is a partner in the Energy and Commodities Practice Group in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery, based in its London office. His practice focuses on energy and infrastructure project development and finance. He is head of the London Banking & Finance Group and head of the London Projects Group.
Andrew has acted for numerous sponsors, international banks and multi-national corporations throughout the world. He has advised on complex financing arrangements in jurisdictions where novel and unprecedented mechanisms have had to be devised by working closely with financiers and local lawyers.
Andrew has advised on project financings throughout the world including power station projects in Italy and Spain, oil and gas developments and a major crude oil pipeline in West Africa and European wind farm projects. He has also advised on various infrastructure projects including the Korinth-Tripoli-Kalamata motorway project and the Thessaloniki Submerged Tunnel project (both in Greece) and the HSL Zuid High Speed Rail Link PPP (in the Netherlands).
In addition to project development and finance Andrew also has extensive experience in the areas of telecoms finance, restructuring, privatisation and general debt financing.
Andrew is commended in Legal 500 UK 2009 for his "analytical thinking and ability to address complex issues and provide solutions". He is recognised as a leader in his field in Chambers UK 2011 for his 'hands-on approach and ability to handle complex issues'.
