Richard A. Lang is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Firm’s Chicago office. Dick, a member of the Private Client Department, joined McDermott after 20 years at another major law firm, where he headed the estate planning practice.
Dick focuses on delivering the Firm’s wide array of legal services to the nation’s wealthiest individuals and families. Among his specialties are wealth transfer and income tax planning for venture capital and entrepreneurial clients, as well as counseling for family offices. Dick maintains an office in the Firm’s Chicago and Silicon Valley offices and is a frequent visitor to the Firm’s New York office.
Dick is a fellow of The American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). He is a frequent lecturer on a variety of estate planning subjects and was an early contributor to the development of zCalc™, an Excel add-in of spreadsheet functions for estate planners. He chairs the Professional Advisory Committee of The Chicago Community Trust. Dick is nationally ranked as a leading wealth management lawyer in the 2008 edition of Chambers USA. He is also listed in Best Lawyers in America and was named an Illinois Super Lawyer by Law & Politics.
