Jeffrey W. Mikoni is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Washington D.C. office. Jeff focuses his practice on complex trial and appellate litigation, with an emphasis on federal constitutional, statutory, and jurisdictional issues. In 2008, Jeff was recognized by Bisnow on Business as one of the top “30 Under 30” young lawyers in Washington, D.C.
As an appellate lawyer, Jeff has held drafting responsibility in several matters before the Supreme Court of the United States, including three merits cases and multiple petitions for writ of certiorari, and has also briefed cases before many of the United States Courts of Appeals. Jeff supplements his appellate practice by analyzing constitutional issues for clients, advising them regarding statutory and regulatory compliance, and evaluating jurisdictional and other legal strategies for trial-level litigation.
Prior to joining the Firm, Jeff served as a summer associate for McDermott in 2004 as well as a judicial intern to the Honorable Dennis M. McHugh of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Maryland in 2003. While at law school, Jeff acted as an associate editor on the Georgetown Law Journal, a competitor in the Barristers’ Council–Mock Trial Division, and a teaching fellow in the Legal Research and Writing program. During his third year, Jeff practiced before the D.C. Superior Court through the D.C. Law Students in Court clinical program.
Jeff is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia, as well as before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the First, Fourth, Seventh, D.C. and Federal Circuits, and several federal district courts.
