Amy Doehring is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office. She handles a variety of complex litigation matters and has tried cases before federal and state courts, as well as arbitration tribunals. Amy has defended health care and insurance clients in connection with class actions, multi-district litigation and governmental investigations. Amy has also represented corporate clients on both the plaintiff and defense sides in disputes arising out of corporate transactions, including claims for breach of operating agreement, breach of merger agreement, breach of fiduciary duty and fraud.
Amy published an article entitled: “Gebser v. Lago Vista Independent School District: The Supreme Court’s Determination That Children Deserve Less Protection From Sexual Harassment Than Adults,” Loyola University Chicago Law Journal, Issue 30, P. 55 (1999). She co-authored an article entitled, “401(k) Litigation Over Company Stock Fund Performance: It’s Only Just Begun,” Benefits Law Journal, Vol. 15, No. 4, Winter 2002. Amy also published an article entitled: “Blurring the Distinction Between Contract and Tort: Courts Permitting Business Plaintiffs to Recover Tort Damages for Breach of Contract,” ABA Business Torts Journal, Vol. 12, No 2, Winter 2005. For three years, Amy was the co-editor of the ABA’s Business Torts Journal, and for one year Amy was an associate editor for the ABA’s Litigation News, where she published four articles.
While Amy attended Loyola University of Chicago School of Law, she was a member of the Law Journal from 1998-1999 and managing editor of the Law Journal from 1999-2000. She is admitted to the Illinois Bar and a member of the American Bar Association.

- Representation of insurance company in defense of multiple actions, including a putative nationwide class action, as part of the multi-district litigation, In re Insurance Brokerage Antitrust Litigation.
- Representation of several non-profit hospitals in defense of class actions challenging their respective charity care programs.
- Representation of private equity buyer of business in arbitration claims alleging fraud committed by seller.
- Representation of minority shareholder in arbitration for breach of his rights under the company’s operating agreement.
- Representation of multiple clients in connection with various civil investigations by United States Attorney, state attorneys general, and DHHS OIG.
