David L. Taub is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s New York office. David is head of the Firm’s Financial Institutions Advisory Practice Group. He is also a member of the Firm’s Management and Compensation Committees.
David concentrates his practice in the field of financial, credit and structured products. His practice extends to both the trading and securitization aspects of the financial products markets and to a variety of credit products. He regularly advises financial institutions, as well as other market participants, regarding a range of derivative transactions, including swaps, caps, collars, floors, investment vehicles and forward delivery agreements. He has structured and developed a variety of innovative and complex securitization transactions.
David has extensive experience in the field of municipal derivatives and has been involved in several of the largest and most innovative primary and secondary market derivative product transactions in the municipal market. In addition, David practices in the field of public finance, advising clients on both the transactional and tax aspects of the issuance of tax-exempt debt securities. He has served as counsel to issuers, underwriters, purchasers, borrowers and lenders for a variety of tax-exempt financings, including pooled and single borrower financings involving governmental, exempt facility and non-profit issuers.
David has served as outside counsel to the Municipal Financial Products Committee of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), formerly The Bond Market Association. In 2005, David and the committee authored “Understanding Municipal Derivatives,” for the Government Finance Officers Association publication, Government Finance Review.
David regularly lectures on derivative products to industry and professional groups and has twice co-chaired the Bond Buyer’s Annual Derivatives and Short-Term Finance Institute. He is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York and the National Association of Bond Lawyers.
While at Brown University, David was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
