Alissa Misun is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's
Alissa focuses her practice on IP litigation, counseling and prosecution. Her litigation experience includes representing clients in complex patent litigation, including computer systems and networking, mechanical devices and business method areas. In the area of patent prosecution, she concentrates on mechanical technologies related to medical devices, furniture, consumer hand and power tools, window and door hardware, and flexible beverage containers. In addition, Alissa has experience in trademark and copyright prosecution, and she has drafted intellectual property licensing and confidentiality agreements.
Alissa received her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law. During law school, she served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Michael T. Mason, U.S. Magistrate Judge for the Northern District of Illinois. She was also a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity, Inc.
As a Kimberly-Clark Bright Futures Scholar, Alissa earned her bachelor’s of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She also received a Technical Communication Certificate and served as the technical editor for the Undergraduate Engineering Review.
Alissa is a member of the bar of the State of Illinois. She is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

- Assisting counsel for plaintiff in recent jury victory asserting plaintiff’s patents against a computer networking industry competitor; and assisting in non-infringement motion for summary judgment granted in plaintiff’s favor (W.D. Wis. 2008)
- Assisting in suit successfully settled for plaintiff in patent infringement and breach of contract case (N.D. Ill. 2008)
- Assisting counsel for defendant in significant patent infringement suit which resulted in a favorable settlement (E.D. Tex. 2007)
- Participating in settlement conference before magistrate judge which resulted in a favorable settlement of a patent infringement case brought by a competitor in the mechanical products industry (N.D. Ill. 2007)
