Lesley N. DeRenzo is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. She focuses her practice on health care transactions and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining McDermott Lesley gained in-house legal experience as a law clerk for a leading health system that maintains an expansive network of hospitals, outpatient surgery centers, urgent care centers, cancer and pediatric specialty centers, and rehabilitation and mental health facilities. In addition, Lesley worked as a certified legal intern at the Milton A. Kramer Law Clinic located at Case Western Reserve School of Law. As a member of the Community Development Clinic, she gained transactional and business formation experience and supported clients’ community development goals. Lesley earned an Anderson Publishing Company Book Award for her clinic contributions.
Lesley served as managing editor for the Journal of International Law, where she received the Frederick K. Cox International Law Center Service Award and the Distinguished Student Note Award for her publication titled: Lesley N. DeRenzo, Note, Stem Cell Tourism: The Challenge and Promise of International Regulation of Embryonic Stem Cell-Based Therapies, 43 CASE W. RES. J. INT’L L. 877 (2011).
Prior to law school, Lesley worked at the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) where she wrote testimony for senate hearings, advised leadership on health & science policy matters, built relationships to initiate international scientific collaboration, and served as a national guest lecturer on the impact of legislation on biomedical research. Her legislative affairs and health policy experience includes a health policy fellowship at the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor & Pensions.
A graduate of the U.S. Presidential Management Fellows program, Lesley received a NIH Director’s Award for her leadership contributions to science policy.
