Sharon Tan is a partner in the firm of McDermott Will & Emery UK LLP, based in its London office. Her practice focuses on all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law.
Sharon has extensive litigation experience. She frequently handles matters such as complex discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal claims in the Employment Tribunal, the Employment Appeal Tribunal and the Court of Appeal. She also has significant experience of handling High Court litigation, including injunctions and contractual disputes.
Sharon regularly provides clients with commercial advice on the full spectrum of day to day employment matters, such as executive appointments/terminations, restrictive covenants, collective information and consultation obligations, redundancies, disciplinary/grievance issues, agency and secondment matters, family related leave and trade union disputes.
She also has a breadth of experience in dealing with the employment aspects of multi-jurisdictional corporate transactions, restructurings and outsourcings and has particular expertise in handling complex TUPE transfers and the issues that can arise in circumstances of insolvency or administration.
Sharon is a frequent speaker at employment law seminars and regularly provides tailored seminars that address particular clients' needs.
Sharon has been recognised in Chambers UK 2011 "continues to impress" with her "wide-ranging employment expertise" and in Chambers UK 2012 as providing "prompt responses to stressful situations". She has also been recognised in Legal 500 UK 2010 as a lawyer who is "thorough, gives great quality of response and timely, sound, practical and empathetic advice" and in Legal 500 UK 2011 as “a tremendously clever lawyer”.
