Linas J. Grikis is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office.  Linas maintains a general health law practice, focusing on the representation of hospitals, health systems, post-acute providers and other health care clients.  Linas routinely provides regulatory and transactional representation of hospitals, long-term care providers and other health care and post-acute providers in connection with mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, physician alignment, clinical integration programs, accountable care organizations and other transactional matters.  He has negotiated complex, multi-party contracts on behalf of clients, including various types of pharmaceutical service agreements.  Linas is co-leader of the Firm’s Hospital and Health System Representation affinity group as well as the Post-Acute and Outpatient Services Strategy affinity group.

Additionally, Linas advises hospital and health system clients and post-acute providers on regulatory compliance with licensure, accreditation, other state and federal regulatory matters, corporate governance and compliance issues.  Linas also works extensively with health care industry clients on Certificate of Need issues before the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board.

Linas is an Adjunct Professor of Law at Loyola University – Chicago, where he has taught the health law section of the Law School’s legal writing program.  Linas is co-author of a chapter on resident contracting issues that appears in the 2006 Edition of Advising Elderly Clients and Their Families published by the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education.  Linas also co-authored a chapter of the book entitled “Complete Guide to Nonprofit Organizations.” The Chapter is entitled “Current Governance Issues for Healthcare Organizations” published in 2007 by the Civic Research Institute.  In addition, he has authored articles that have appeared in the Tulsa Law Journal, Matthew Bender’s Health Care Monthly, Outpatient Surgery and in Illinois Pediatrician, published by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Linas was honored by the University of Tulsa College of Law as the 2006 Distinguished Practitioner in Residence.  While attending the University of Tulsa College of Law, Linas was a Notes and Comments Editor of the Tulsa Law Journal.  Linas was also an Articles Editor for the Annals of Health Law Journal at Loyola University – Chicago School of Law. 

Linas was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1996.  Linas is a member of the Chicago Bar Association, American Health Lawyers Association, American College of Healthcare Executives and the Illinois Association of Healthcare Attorneys.  Linas also serves on the Board of Directors of Book Worm Angels, a Chicago based literacy organization.
