Jamie A. Weyeneth is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Chicago office.
Jamie advises companies on a wide variety of retirement and welfare benefits issues. She has extensive experience with privacy compliance under the new Affordable Care Act, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and continuing health coverage under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA). Jamie was a participant in the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange (WEDI) HIPAA Privacy and Security Employer Workgroup. She developed model HIPAA privacy materials used by numerous clients.
Jamie has represented clients before the U.S. Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. She has assisted clients with internal compliance reviews and with voluntary correction filings for fiduciary violations and plan document and administrative errors.
Jamie regularly advises public and privately held companies and private equity funds on employee benefits issues involved in mergers, acquisitions and divestitures. She also counsels clients on the employee benefits design and transitions arising from such transactions.
Jamie has been named an Illinois Rising Star by Law & Politics.
