Esther Chang is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm’s Los Angeles office. She focuses her practice on health care transactions and regulatory matters. Esther has been recognized by Chambers USA 2011 as one of the leading lawyers in her field.
Esther was recently part of the team that represented Tenet Healthcare Corporation and certain of its affiliates in connection with the sale of substantially all of the assets of the 245-bed Tarzana campus of Encino-Tarzana Regional Medical Center located in Tarzana, California to Providence Health System – Southern California for $88.9 million. She has also worked with other McDermott health lawyers to represent Tenet in nearly 30 other hospital sales. Esther has also represented DaVita in the sale of nearly 73 renal dialysis centers to Renal Advantage Inc.
In addition to her transactional experience, Esther focuses her practice on health care regulatory issues, including fraud and abuse/Stark law, and HIPAA privacy for medical schools and academic medical centers. She has helped draft contracts and consents, including leases, management agreements and affiliation agreements. She has also counseled hospital clients on general counsel-type matters including bylaw and JCAHO reviews.
Esther was recently listed in The National Law Journal as one of the Minority 40 Under 40.
