Michael V. Lee is a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP and is based in the Firm's Orange County office. Michael's practice encompasses both intellectual property and corporate transactional matters.
Michael has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating and drafting numerous intellectual property agreements, including licensing agreements involving various intellectual property rights, including patents, trademarks, software, know-how, trade secrets, data rights, joint development agreements, OEM manufacturing agreements, supply and distribution agreements, intellectual property sale and purchase agreements, and proprietary information and nondisclosure agreements. He has provided counseling on intellectual property matters to clients in various industries and businesses, including aeronautics and aerospace, agricultural chemical, apparel, automotive, computer hardware, e-commerce, entertainment, financial, medical device, mobile technologies, software and thin-film materials.
Michael’s extensive experience in corporate transactional matters includes mergers and acquisitions, entity formation and governance, complex commercial transactions, private equity financings, debt financings, securities offerings, joint ventures, strategic alliances, real estate transactions, and employment and consulting agreements. He has provided counseling on corporate matters for a range of clients, including start-up and emerging companies, public companies and non-profit organizations.
Michael also has significant litigation experience. Prior to joining McDermott, he represented Fortune 100 companies in various litigation matters, including products liability and consumer claims.
Michael serves on McDermott’s Pro Bono and Community Service Committee.
Michael was a law clerk to Honorable Linda H. McLaughlin, United States District Court, Central District of California.

- Represented a manufacturer of apparel products in the acquisition of a worldwide patent and trademark portfolio, licensing of patents and trademarks, M&A transactions and corporate governance.
- Represented a mobile handset manufacturer in numerous transactions involving OEM manufacturing, procurement, supply and distribution.
- Represented various private equity funds and venture capital funds in connection with private equity and debt financings of start-up and emerging companies.
