Mr. Pohl said the ruling opens the way for other companies to demand considerable tax refunds. However, the ruling will have no impact on the future taxation of foreign companies in Germany. "The German government put into effect a tax rate of 25% for both branches and subsidiaries in 2000," Mr. Pohl said.
