Partner Named Among the Top 100 Estate Planning Attorneys
CHICAGO (November 17, 2005) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Richard L. Dees, a partner in the Firm's Private Client Department, was recognized by Robb Robert Worth magazine as one of the top 100 estate planning attorneys in the United States.
Worth published its first annual feature of the Top 100 Attorneys in its December 2005 issue. The attorneys were identified through a nomination process in which the publication reached out to financial advisors, family office executives, accountants, consultants, academics and others who work regularly with estate planning attorneys. The nominations were vetted to find those attorneys who successfully integrate exceptional legal expertise with outstanding interpersonal skills and great tact.
Mr. Dees, who joined McDermott in 1980 immediately following his law school graduation, advises a broad clientele on estate, tax and business planning issues. He has written and lectured on the use of partnerships, limited liability companies and S corporations by family business owners. He has considerable experience advising farmers, farmland owners, farm managers and brokers and other agribusinesses and their professional advisers on farm estate planning, leasing, management issues, business organization questions and tax planning decisions. He also has experience in fiduciary income tax issues including foreign trusts.
Mr. Dees, who is resident in the Firm's Chicago office, has been named in Best Lawyers in America, and is an elected member of Leading Illinois Attorneys, as well as a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. Mr. Dees earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois College of Law and his B.S. from Southern Illinois University.
McDermott Will & Emery's Private Client Department, composed of approximately 40 lawyers and 10 non-lawyer professionals, is one of the largest and best-known departments of its kind in the United States.
