McDermott Expands International Trade Group With USTR Attorney
WASHINGTON, D.C. (July 30, 2007) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Jay T. Taylor has rejoined the Firm as partner in the International Trade Practice Group based in the Washington, D.C. office.
Prior to rejoining McDermott, Mr. Taylor worked at the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR), where he served as Associate General Counsel. While at USTR Mr. Taylor acted as lead U.S. counsel in a number of cases at the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva, Switzerland, including the Beef Hormones dispute, the first WTO dispute to be opened to the public, and compliance proceedings in the Japan Apples and Chile Price Band disputes.
In addition, Mr. Taylor advised the agency on a wide range of trade policy issues including food safety, trade in agricultural products, technical barrier to trade and the development of standards at international organizations. He also served as agriculture and sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) counsel in recent free trade agreement negotiations, as well as in wine negotiations.

Mr. Taylor earned his J.D., cum laude, from Tulane University and his B.A. in English from Princeton University. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
