Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Names Joseph Selby One of Boston's Future Leaders
BOSTON (February 29, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce selected Joseph Selby for Boston's Future Leaders, a highly selective program of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. The program's mission is to identify the leaders of tomorrow and engage them in the business and civic life of the Boston community by providing a platform for professional development and significant opportunities for growth and exposure. Mr. Selby joins the Boston's Future Leaders Class of 2008.
Mr. Selby is a partner in McDermott's Boston office and is a member of the Firm's Tax Department. His practice focuses primarily on federal income tax issues, including advising clients on audits, appeals, litigation and tax planning for proposed transactions, as well as state and local tax issues. Prior to joining McDermott, Mr. Selby served two years as an assistant district attorney in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, where he prosecuted bench and jury trials to verdict, presented felony cases to the grand jury, conducted pretrial evidentiary hearings, oral arguments and witness interviews, and arraigned cases ranging from misdemeanors to homicides. He is a member of the American Bar Association Tax Section and the Boston Bar Association Tax Section. Mr. Selby is admitted to the practice of law in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
In order to be selected for Boston's Future Leaders, participants must work for a Chamber member organization, hold a mid- to senior-level management position within their respective organizations, and be identified as having high potential for an executive-level position. Candidates are nominated by senior executives within Chamber member organizations. Boston's Future Leaders and alumni take part in a year-long program consisting of forums and receptions, designed to build a foundation for effective career and personal growth.
