IP Practice Recognized for Creating Value for Clients
WASHINGTON, DC — McDermott Will & Emery’s Intellectual Property Department was recognized in IP Law & Business as one of the top law firms that creates value for its clients’ patents. The annual patent-quality survey was conducted by PatentRatings, LLC, and its results appeared in the March 2004 issue of IP Law & Business.
PatentRatings ranked firms based on patents issued in six categories: biotechnology, chemistry, electrical, medical, computer and software and mechanical. McDermott Will & Emery placed within the top five of three categories — chemical, electrical and mechanical patents; and was one of the only general service firms to be recognized. PatentRatings looks at 50 different factors for each patent and ranks each firm based on the value the firm creates for its clients.
“This recent recognition illustrates our commitment to our clients and their continued success,” commented Jack Lever, head of the Firm’s IP Department. “At McDermott our IP lawyers work with clients to identify patentability and prosecute quality patents as a means of providing the most value for our clients.”
The Intellectual Property Department of McDermott, Will & Emery now numbers more than 165 IP lawyers and patent agents. More than 115 of the Firms IP lawyers hold scientific or technical degrees. Our IP lawyers engage in various aspects of IP work, including advertising and marketing, computer and internet law, copyrights, legislation, litigation, patents, trade dress, trademarks, trade secrets, unfair competition and antitrust.
