New York Capital Markets Practice Continues to Grow
NEW YORK (February 17, 2005) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Michael Pettingill, formerly counsel at O'Melveny & Myers LLP, has joined the Firm as a corporate partner in the New York office. Mr. Pettingill's arrival comes on the heels of the arrival of Peter Humphreys who joined McDermott's structured finance practice earlier this month.
"Michael and Peter are a substantial addition to our New York office and our international capital markets practice," commented Peter J. Sacripanti, partner-in-charge of McDermott's New York office. "These latest additions in our finance practice demonstrate our commitment to continued growth in New York and to providing our clients with the highest caliber of advice and service."
"Michael has extensive experience with collateralized debt obligations that will greatly complement the talent of our existing capital markets team," commented Tom McGavin, who joined McDermott in January 2004 from Clifford Chance to head the Firm's capital markets practice.
Mr. Pettingill represents collateral managers and investment banks in collateralized debt obligation transactions and total return swap programs, and represents issuers and underwriters in a wide range of securitization transactions, including those backed by trade receivables and commercial mortgages. He also has experience working on IPOs and mergers and acquisitions, including the representation of conduit and portfolio lenders in the origination, purchase and sale of real estate term, mezzanine and construction loans, with an emphasis on loans destined for securitization.
"McDermott's integrated client service platform and the opportunity to work with a network of seasoned lawyers with diverse backgrounds were the main factors in my decision to join the Firm," commented Mr. Pettingill.
Mr. Pettingill is admitted to practice in New York and California. He earned his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law in 1994. He earned his B.A. in economics from Bucknell University in 1991.
