Employment Litigator Joins McDermott's Boston Office
BOSTON (February 12, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Jeffrey Webb has joined the Firm's Boston office as a partner in the Trial Department. Mr. Webb focuses his practice on complex employment litigation, class actions, internal investigations, and commercial litigation.
Scott A. Faust, head of the Labor and Employment Group in McDermott's Boston office commented, "Mr. Webb complements the existing labor and employment practice on the east coast. He has an impressive background in labor and employment litigation and he will be a terrific resource for our clients."
Mr. Webb defends employers in multi-party cases, wage and hour class actions, employment discrimination class actions, and ERISA class actions. He serves as nationwide lead counsel providing a coordinated defense of copy-cat employment class actions filed against a client in a variety of jurisdictions.
Mr. Webb also represents employers in arbitrations and lawsuits brought by highly compensated senior executives. He has successfully tried a number of cases in state and federal courts, and he also has obtained many favorable arbitration awards for his clients. His trials and arbitrations have involved claims for stock options and other executive compensation, trade secret misappropriation, employment discrimination, harassment, fraud and breach of contract.
Mr. Webb counsels employers on a wide variety of topics including workforce reorganizations, executive employment agreements, wage and hour issues, disability and leave issues, unfair competition, investigations and terminations. He also provides counsel on the employment aspects of corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Webb negotiates collective bargaining agreements, handles unfair labor practice charges, and represents employers in labor arbitrations.
Mr. Webb represents clients in a variety of industries including financial services, private equity, health care, high technology, new media, higher education, entertainment, retail, and manufacturing.
"Jeff's broad trial practice is a significant addition to our Firm-wide labor and employment and class action practices, as well as a strong supplement to our overall Boston trial practice," commented Mark Pearlstein, partner-in-charge of the Boston Trial Department.
Mr. Webb earned his LL.M. from the London School of Economics at the University of London, his J.D. from the University of Virginia Law School and his B.S.E., magna cum laude, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to the State Bar of California.
