Prudential General Counsel Joins McDermott M&A Practice in New York
NEW YORK (May 2, 2005) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Howard E. Steinberg will join McDermott Will & Emery’s Corporate Department as a partner on Wednesday, May 4, 2005. Based in the Firm’s New York office, Mr. Steinberg will bring his 35 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions, securities law and corporate governance to the Firm's corporate practice.

Mr. Steinberg joins the Firm from the Prudential Equity Group, where he most recently served as executive vice president and general counsel. Prior to this position he was the general counsel of Prudential Securities, where he built and led a 160 person in-house global legal team. Before that, Mr. Steinberg served in several senior executive positions at Reliance Group Holdings Inc., including executive vice president and general counsel. Prior to joining Reliance, he was a partner at Dewey Ballantine, where he was a highly accomplished partner in the corporate practice group.

Mr. Steinberg earned his B.A. degree at the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. at Georgetown University Law Center. He is a member of the Board of Regents of Georgetown University and a member of the Board of Directors of Sheltering Arms Children's Service.

Mr. Steinberg currently serves as co-chair of the Securities Industry Association's Federal Regulation Committee and is a member of the executive committee of its Compliance and Legal Division. He is also deputy chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Long Island Power Authority, and previously served as chairman of the New York State Thruway Authority and chairman of the New York State Canal Corporation.
