McDermott Moving Its Silicon Valley Office Back to Menlo Park

PALO ALTO, CA (November 10, 2008) — McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that it has signed a 10 year lease to occupy the 80,000 square feet office space recently held by Heller Ehrman LLP.  McDermott will be moving to 275 Middlefield Road in Menlo Park in the first quarter of 2009.

"The decision to sign this long term lease reflects our commitment to the Silicon Valley market and to our highly successful operation and practices there, which we are planning to further grow in the months and years ahead," commented Harvey W. Freishtat, Firm Chairman.

"This is an exciting move for our office," commented Anthony de Alcuaz, partner-in-charge of the Silicon Valley office.  "The new office underscores the Firm's dedication to our Valley presence and our intention to grow stronger in our present practice areas and add significant new practices in Northern California."

Among other things, McDermott selected this space because of its many amenities, including its state of the art conference facilities and exercise room, as well as the overall efficiency and the central location of the office.

Originally located on Sand Hill Road in Menlo Park, McDermott opened its Silicon Valley office on September 2, 1997.  The Firm has been at its current location in Palo Alto since early 2002.

McDermott secured the project with the guidance and partnership of George Fox and Ham Southworth of tenant representation firm STUDLEY.  Fox and Southworth are principals of Studley's International Law Firm Practice Group.

The Firm's Silicon Valley office began with four lawyers just over 10 years ago, and now includes more than 60 lawyers.  Our Silicon Valley lawyers work on significant matters requiring a broad range of sophisticated legal skills on an international platform.  Members of the office are also actively involved in Firm management and are committed to the Bay Area community.
