New Head of Health Law Practice Named

CHICAGO - The international law firm of McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that partner Monte Dube has assumed the role of Head of the Firm's Health Law Department. Mr. Dube succeeds Michael Anthony, who will concentrate on further development of his practice after having served as Head of the Health Department for the past 10 years.

"Monte Dube's work has been instrumental in the development and success of the Firm's national health practice," commented Larry Gerber, Firm Chairman. "I am certain his leadership will continue the Firm's tradition of excellence in the area of health law."

The Firm's health law practice is one of the nation's largest, with more than 115 lawyers focusing their practice on health industry clients. The Firm's health lawyers, working in collaboration with the Firm's 800 other lawyers, have been involved in some of the industry's highest profile mergers and acquisitions, as well as in the defense of health industry clients in major fraud and abuse and related civil and criminal investigations. The Firm's health lawyers also provide day-to-day counseling to hundreds of hospitals and health systems (both not-for-profit and proprietary), long-term care providers, medical groups, pharmaceutical companies, insurers and payors.

Monte Dube, who joined McDermott in 1984, also currently heads the Health Department's Mergers and Acquisitions Practice Group and its Small and Rural Hospitals Practice Group. Mr. Dube has served as counsel representing hospitals and health systems in connection with numerous sales, affiliations and acquisitions, hospital corporate restructurings, public hospital privatizations, joint ventures, corporate compliance program design and implementation, and reimbursement litigation. Mr. Dube is currently leading the Firm's legal team in its representation of Quorum Health Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: QHGI) in its proposed settlement of its Medicare cost report litigation and in its agreement to merge with Triad Hospitals, Inc., in a transaction valued at $2.45 billion.

Michael Anthony, the outgoing Head of the Firm's Health Law Department, is the former Senior Vice President of the American Hospital Association, and has served as counsel in connection with a number of projects including provider affiliations, integrated delivery system development, formation of HMOs and PPOs, health care mergers, acquisitions and affiliations, joint ventures, joint operating arrangements, reimbursement systems, medical group representation and other legal and policy issues.
