Chicago Office Adds Litigator
CHICAGO — David L. Hanselman, Jr. has joined McDermott Will & Emery's Trial Department as a partner in the Chicago office. Mr. Hanselman's litigation background has focused on mass torts and complex insurance litigation.
Mr. Hanselman's experience includes several class action lawsuits and federal multidistrict proceedings, where he has defended clients against products liability and consumer fraud/RICO claims. He also has extensive experience in appellate litigation, having appealed successfully to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the highest courts of Indiana and South Carolina, the latter of which, decided in 2003, resulted in the dismissal of two automobile class action lawsuits against an Illinois insurer. His litigation experience has covered a number of industries, including health care, pharmaceutical, insurance and telecommunications.
“David is talented and has built up solid experience in complex litigation cases with clients in a variety of industries,“ commented John Doyle, partner-in-charge of the Firm’s Chicago Trial Department. “He is a great addition to our team and will further enhance the capabilities of both our insurance litigation group based in the Washington, D.C. office and the mass tort group based in our Chicago office.”
Mr. Hanselman earned his J.D. with honors from The University of Chicago Law School in 1998 and his A.B. with honors from Harvard College in 1995, where he was elected student government president. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and Indiana.
