Chicago Pro Bono Foundation Names President

CHICAGO - McDermott Will & Emery is pleased to announce that Geoffrey Vance has been elected president of the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation (CVLS).  Mr. Vance, a partner in the Firm's Trial Department, has served on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services Foundation for five years.

"Through his work with CVLS, Geof has committed much of his time and a wealth of knowledge to those in need," commented Donald Hilliker, Chair of the Firm's Pro Bono Committee and President of the Legal Assistance Foundation.  "I am confident that as president, Geof will continue the success and development of this organization.  His dedication to CVLS and its clients is truly unsurpassed."

Founded in 1964, CVLS is the nation's largest and oldest pro bono legal services provider, having provided legal assistance to more than 300,000 people who were not be able to afford a lawyer. CVLS sponsors 18 legal clinics in the Chicagoland area. Through the operation of those clinics and other volunteer programs, more than 1500 lawyers and paralegals volunteered their time and talent to more than 11,000 low-income CVLS clients just last year. Mr. Vance, a trial partner at McDermott, Will & Emery, received his law degree, cum laude, from The John Marshall Law School in 1996, where he was a member of the JMLS Law Review.  He earned his bachelor's degree from James Madison College at Michigan State University in 1992.  Mr. Vance is also a member of the adjunct faculty of The John Marshall Law School, where he teaches legal writing and research to first and second year law students.
